Tordos, melros e afins
Estas aves podem ser encontradas em quase todos os cantos do mundo, saltitando pelo solo de bosques, matos, prados e jardins urbanos. Para além dos tordos, incluem-se aqui os solitários dos trópicos, os azulinhos da América do Norte ou a belíssima grandala dos Himalaias. A dieta dos turdídeos é essencialmente insectívora, mas as espécies de latitudes nortenhas consomem bagas no Inverno. São, em termos gerais, aves possantes, de patas fortes e cauda razoavelmente comprida. Cerca de um quarto das espécies tem um estatuto de conservação desfavorável.
