Víreos, vite-vites e assobiadores
A família dos víreos inclui maioritariamente pequenas aves com bicos relativamente fortes e que frequentam vegetação arbórea. A sua alimentação é diversificada, incluindo insectos, bagas e frutos. No passado, a aparente inconsistência entre a sua distribuição restrita ao Novo Mundo e a proximidade genética a várias famílias do Velho Mundo (como os papa-figos) gerou alguma confusão. Entretanto, foi descoberto que várias espécies asiáticas são geneticamente muito afins dos víreos, sendo incluídas nesta família e resolvendo em parte esse mistério.

Aves do Mundo
